Library and Literacy Commission
The Library and Literacy Commission has a vacancy with a term to expire in October 2012. The Commission is comprised of seven members and serves in an advisory capacity making recommendations to the City Council on policy and overall goals and objectives for the library. Generally, the Commission meets once per month, with a hiatus during the months of June, July and August. To be eligible for appointment, individuals must be residents of the City of Porterville.
Community Development Block Grant Advisory and Housing Committee
The Community Development Block Grant Advisory and Housing Committee functions in an advisory capacity to the City Council regarding the planning, implementation, and assessment of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnership Act (HOME) Programs. These funds must be used for projects which benefit low and moderate income persons and/or aid in the elimination or prevention of slum and blight. This Committee consists of seven (7) residents of the City who are appointed by the City Council.
Redevelopment Advisory Committee
The Porterville Redevelopment Advisory Committee currently has three vacancies for terms expiring in July 2014. This Committee is advisory in nature and consults with the Redevelopment Agency on policy matters which affect the residents of the Project Area, and performs other responsibilities as specifically requested and/or directed by the Porterville City Council and/or the Porterville Redevelopment Agency. The desired qualifications include being a City resident, and either owning property or a business within the Redevelopment Area, or living or working within the Redevelopment Area. Information on the Redevelopment Area boundaries may be obtained at the City Clerk’s Office.
Anyone wishing to serve on above named committees is hereby invited to submit a Request for Appointment form to the City Clerk. The Request for Appointment form is available online (above), or can be obtained from the City Clerk, City Hall, 291 North Main Street.
